3 Tips To Improve Air Quality In The Home To Prevent Asthma Attacks

Nothing can ruin your day faster than having an asthma attack. The wheezing, coughing and tightness in your chest is a horrible feeling, which becomes compounded by the tired and jittery feeling that some asthma medications cause.

There are a variety of different triggers that can cause an asthma attack. One trigger is the poor air quality in your home. Dust, mold, and chemical fumes can irritate passageways in the lungs. But you can take three steps in improving the air quality in your home to prevent and lessen future asthma attacks.

Tip #1: Reduce Chemical Fumes From Cleaners

Many cleaning products contain strong fumes that cause asthma attacks. Use unscented products on furniture, floors, and dishes. Open windows and doors to allow fresh air into your home.

Tip #2: Minimize Dust In The Home

Reduce the amount of dust by using vacuum cleaners equipped with HEPA filters. Many people choose to forego rugs and carpeting that trap dust to instead have wood flooring that's easier to clean. Replace air filters in furnaces when clogged with dust, and wipe down air vents and a/c filters.

Tip #3: Immediately Fix Leaking Water Pipes

Water on drywall, soaked into wood, and left on damp carpet can create mold spores. Repair water problems the moment you find them. If mold has developed, contact a mold removal service as soon as possible to inspect the mold and offer remediation services.

I have been suffering terribly from asthma attacks these past 6 days its getting scary waking up unable to breath. Once I have woken up and move around a bit I manage to cough up phlegm and clear my chest. I suffer from achalasia and think it might be this but its also May and change in weather could also be a factor
